Michael's approach to focus and individual communication in his teaching is extraordinary. He has helped me to discover weak points in my music, and has an intuitive grasp of what is most important.

(vocalist/teacher/composer/arranger)

Great class today — both improv games were really fun, everybody was able to hang while being in new territory, and your accompaniment was rich, varied, lively, supportive, and impeccable. Right On!

Rev. Ouida Joi
(vocalist/composer/workshop facilitator)

I had a breakthrough this morning while listening to your Piano Accompaniment CD.  I realized all these years I have been improvising songs within pre-existing songs when I facilitate my workshops.  So when you said to me "practice making up new songs in different contexts", a light went on.  Now, I'm improvising to everything in my environment.  What fun!  I also like practicing to every groove on your CD.

(vocalist/commissioned visual artist)

VOCAL FLIGHT was great not only for my voice but also for expanding the 'musical space' in my mind. Michael is very detail oriented, and there is nothing that slips by his trained ear . . . I especially appreciated learning new scales through North Indian sargam, and feel that this is something I will take with me in any future musical endeavors I approach. A great fun class. I highly recommend it!

Ronald Aveling
(vocalist/composer/recording artist)

VOCAL FLIGHT provided me with hands-on immersion into the world of improvisation and group vocalisation. The wide range of areas we covered, such as vocal percussion, polyrhythms, pitch training and scales, made for an organic and eclectically enjoyable learning experience . . . Michael couples years of musical experience and technical know-how with a fun, light-hearted approach to vocal improvisation.
